HELP! WE DO NOT SHARE THE SAME DESIGN STYLE!

How to combine design styles cohesively. (Design style conflict)

Is “Coastal Farmhouse” or “Industrial Tuscan” a design style thing? No, but I believe that we all like more than one design style and we shouldn’t have choose just one!

I have met with multiple couples during my design career and more often than not they do not share similar design taste.

That is where a good Interior Designer can be your best resource!

First of all, there is more than one room in the house. And I quickly point out that everyone living in the house just needs to face the fact that there may be a room in the house they do not like. There will be spaces for him, spaces for her and shared spaces. Once clients resolve themselves to the truth of that, I am able to meet each of their design styles and move forward with designing a house everyone can be happy with.

I quickly determine “who” is going to spend the most time in a particular room (designing that room geared towards that individual) and which rooms are shared spaces (a blend of style).

How do I combine my love of Queen Anne with his Ultra-Modern?

I love clean and classy… he likes rustic!?

Do you see where I am going with this… a blending of styles can be amazing if done well.

Let’s dissect this beautiful Living Room by Nesting with Grace.

I see nods to Scandinavian Architectural finishes and chairs, Farmhouse bench, Vintage oil paintings in ornate frames, Bohemian pendants,

The key to this blending of eclectic styles comes down to well thought out careful choices and layering of textures, colors, and styles to be successful.
